The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government signed an Order on 26 April 2007 establishing a Constituency Commission under Part 2 of the Electoral Act, 1997 to review the Dáil and European Parliament constituencies.

Membership of the Commission was:

    • Chairman: The Honorable Mr. Justice Iarfhlaith O’Neill
    • Clerk of the Dáil: Mr. Kieran Coughlan
    • Clerk of the Seanad: Ms. Deirdre Lane
    • Secretary General, Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government: Ms. Geraldine Tallon
    • Ombudsman: Ms. Emily O'Reilly

The Constituency Commission has presented its report on Dáil and European Parliament Constituencies 2007 to the Chairman of Dáil Éireann.
